A wonderful introduction to Kenya's wild heart and a rewarding way to experience a bucket-list dream. Why We Love This Journey

Two reserves, one perfect introduction

What makes this 6-day itinerary a bucket-list favourite.

1

Flamingos on the Rift

Lake Nakuru's alkaline shores draw vast flocks of flamingos, pelicans and over four hundred bird species — a cloud of pink rising from the water is one of Africa's most iconic and photogenic natural spectacles.

2

Rhino Stronghold

Lake Nakuru is one of Kenya's most important sanctuaries for both white and the critically endangered black rhinoceros. The park's compact size makes sightings remarkably reliable — a highlight that larger reserves cannot always guarantee.

3

Big Cat Capital

The Maasai Mara holds the continent's densest concentration of lion, leopard and cheetah. Two full days in the reserve give you time to witness the drama of the hunt, the pride at rest, and a solo leopard draped across an acacia branch.

4

Sunrise Balloon over the Mara

An optional hot-air balloon flight at dawn — drifting silently above the savannah as the first light paints the grasslands amber, followed by a champagne bush breakfast where you touch down.

5

Small Group, Big Moments

With a maximum of twelve guests per departure, you share the bush with a handful of fellow travellers — more space in the vehicle, more time at sightings, and a more personal connection with your guide.

6

Short on Time, Not on Wow

Six days is all it takes to witness flamingos blanketing a Rift Valley lake, rhinos on the valley floor, and cheetah sprinting across the Mara's open plains. A complete Kenya experience without the long itinerary.

Your Journey

Day-by-day safari itinerary

Six days across two of Kenya's most celebrated reserves — every detail considered.

Day1

NairobiArrival & Welcome to Kenya

Welcome to Kenya. Upon arrival at Jomo Kenyatta International Airport, you will be met by our representative and transferred to your hotel in the city. The rest of the day is free to relax ahead of your safari adventure.

Day2

Lake Nakuru National ParkNairobi to Sarova Lion Hill Lodge

After breakfast, drive northwest to Lake Nakuru in the heart of the Great Rift Valley. Lake Nakuru National Park is a paradise for birdlife, with over four hundred colourful species recorded — from spoonbills and storks to pelicans and the famous flocks of pink flamingos that gather along the alkaline shoreline.

Arrive in time for a relaxed lunch at Sarova Lion Hill Lodge, then head out on an afternoon game drive to explore the park's rich and varied terrain.

Day3

Lake Nakuru National ParkRhinos, Flamingos & the Rift Valley

Spend a second day exploring Lake Nakuru's diverse habitats on morning and afternoon game drives. Beyond the birdlife, the park's woodlands, rocky escarpments, and open grasslands provide sanctuary for lion, leopard, buffalo, Rothschild giraffe, and both white and the endangered black rhinoceros.

Between drives, return to the lodge and enjoy panoramic views of the lake from the terrace — the still water reflecting the valley's dramatic escarpment walls.

Day4

Maasai Mara National ReserveLake Nakuru to Mara Engai Lodge

After an early breakfast, drive south towards the world's most celebrated wildlife reserve — the Maasai Mara. Home to one of the highest concentrations of wildlife on the planet, the Mara's endless savannah and rolling grasslands are quintessential Kenya.

Arrive at Mara Engai Lodge in time for lunch and settle in. The lodge's elevated position offers uninterrupted views across the plains, where wildlife moves freely below your terrace — a preview of the adventures ahead.

Day5

Maasai Mara National ReserveBig Cats, Balloon Safari & the Open Plains

Prepare for an unforgettable day. An optional hot-air balloon safari is highly recommended — drift silently above the vast savannah as the sunrise paints the Mara in amber and gold, then touch down for a champagne bush breakfast.

Afterwards, head out on morning and afternoon game drives into the heart of the reserve. The Mara offers exceptional chances of spotting the Big Five alongside giraffe, hyena, impala, and cheetah. Look for lions basking in the shade or an elusive solo leopard draped across an acacia branch — there are few places on earth better for viewing Africa's great cats.

Day6

End of TourMaasai Mara to Nairobi · Departure

After breakfast, depart the Mara and drive back to Nairobi for your onward journey.

Though short, this safari delivers an extraordinary introduction to Kenya's wildlife — the flamingos of Nakuru, the rhinos on the valley floor, and the big cats of the Mara will stay with you long after the red dust settles.
