Why We Love This Journey

Coast to bush to Kilimanjaro

What makes this the perfect five-day introduction to southern Kenya.

1

Coast to Bush in Hours

Depart from your Mombasa beach hotel and be on a game drive in one of Kenya's largest national parks by lunchtime — no internal flights, no layovers, just the open road and the bush waiting at the other end.

2

Red-Dust Elephants

Tsavo East's elephants coat themselves in the park's distinctive laterite soil, turning a vivid russet red. These herds — and the Aruba Dam where they gather — are unique to this corner of Kenya.

3

Two Full Days in the Parks

A dedicated full day in both Tsavo East and Amboseli means you explore every corner rather than rushing between reserves — morning light, midday sightings, and golden-hour drives.

4

Kilimanjaro's Giants

Amboseli's elephant families are among the most photographed in Africa, silhouetted against the snow-capped dome of Mount Kilimanjaro. The juxtaposition of swamp, savannah, and summit is unforgettable.

5

Maasai Culture

An optional visit to a traditional Maasai village offers a window into one of East Africa's most celebrated cultures — from beadwork and song to the daily rhythms of pastoral life on the Amboseli plains.

6

Scenic Drive to Nairobi

The return journey through Kenya's southern highlands is a destination in itself — rolling landscapes, Athi River crossings, and one last chance at spotting wildlife before the city skyline appears.

Your Journey

Day-by-day safari itinerary

Five days across two of southern Kenya's finest parks — every detail considered.

Day1

Tsavo East National ParkMombasa to Tsavo East · Red-Dust Elephants

Your safari begins with a morning pick-up from your beach hotel in Mombasa. Leave the tropical coastline behind as you journey inland towards Tsavo East National Park — one of Kenya's largest and oldest wildlife reserves.

Arrive in time for lunch, then head out on your first afternoon game drive. Tsavo East is renowned for its vast open plains, dramatic landscapes, and the famous red-dust elephants whose distinctive colour comes from the park's rich soil. Lions, giraffes, zebra, buffalo, antelopes, and ostriches roam the plains in abundance.

Day2

Tsavo East National ParkTsavo East Full Day · Aruba Dam & Big Cats

After breakfast, spend the day exploring the incredible wilderness of Tsavo East. Visit the famous Aruba Dam, where elephants, buffalo, zebra, and numerous animals gather to drink. Your experienced guide will search for lions, leopards, cheetahs, giraffes, and an impressive variety of birdlife.

Enjoy a picnic lunch in the park before continuing your afternoon game drive through the vast wilderness.

Day3

Amboseli National ParkTsavo East to Amboseli · Kilimanjaro Elephants

After breakfast, depart Tsavo East and journey towards Amboseli National Park. Arrive at your camp in time for lunch, then set out on an afternoon game drive across Amboseli's open plains, swamps, and acacia woodlands.

The park is celebrated for its large elephant herds and spectacular views of Mount Kilimanjaro, Africa's highest mountain. During your drive, you may encounter elephants, lions, cheetahs, buffalo, wildebeest, zebra, giraffes, and over four hundred species of birds.

Day4

Amboseli National ParkAmboseli Full Day · Plains, Swamps & Summit

Today is dedicated to exploring one of Kenya's most iconic wildlife destinations. Begin with an early morning game drive when the skies are often clear enough to reveal breathtaking views of Mount Kilimanjaro.

Explore Amboseli's diverse ecosystems — wetlands fed by underground springs, open grasslands, seasonal lakes, and acacia forests. Search for elephants, lions, cheetahs, hyenas, buffalo, giraffes, and an incredible variety of birdlife. Enjoy a picnic lunch at a scenic location before continuing your afternoon safari. An optional Maasai village visit is available.

Day5

End of TourAmboseli to Nairobi · Departure

After breakfast, check out and begin the scenic drive to Nairobi. Enjoy your final views of Mount Kilimanjaro as you leave Amboseli behind. Travel through the beautiful landscapes of southern Kenya, arriving in Nairobi during the afternoon.
