1 Day Tsavo East Tour Itinerary

Day 1: Journey to Taita Hills & Game Drive

Depart the hotel at 8:30 AM and drive along the Mombasa-Malindi Highway. The journey to Tsavo East takes approximately 90 minutes, with a brief washroom break along the way. Branch off at Voi Town and head towards Taita Hills, an area rich in World War I history yet renowned for its breathtaking beauty, often referred to as the “Switzerland of East Africa.” The surrounding hills can get chilly and cold at night.

Perched atop one of these hills is the Taita Hills Lodge, where you will check in and enjoy a delicious lunch. After lunch, embark on an exciting game drive, taking in the African wilderness from the specially designed pop-up safari roof. Taita Hills is a private sanctuary teeming with wildlife, positioned between Tsavo East and West, and serving as a crucial corridor for large animals migrating through the Pare Mountains into Tanzania. Look out for four of the Big Five, along with some of the 400+ stunning bird species that inhabit this remarkable area.

After a thrilling four-hour game drive, return to the lodge for dinner and an overnight stay. During dinner, enjoy the mesmerizing sight of animals gathering at the nearby waterhole, a spectacle that continues throughout the night.

Day 2: Morning Game Drive & Return to Mombasa

Start the day with an early morning breakfast, followed by checkout from the lodge. Enjoy a game drive en route to your exit, capturing final glimpses of the diverse wildlife. Then, begin your journey back to Mombasa or Diani, arriving by early afternoon, marking the end of an unforgettable safari adventure.
