Arrivals. Kenya has two points of entry by air - Jomo Kenyatta International Airport, Nairobi and Moi International Airport, Mombasa. The main point of entry by sea is Mombasa. Health. Malaria is endemic to certain areas of kenya and all visitors should begin by taking anti-malaria profileptics two weeks before arrival in Kenya, throughout their stay and a minimum of three weeks after leaving Kenya. Piped water supplies are generally safe in municipal areas, both local and imported can be purchased in hotel sundry shops and other tourist kiosks. You will find filtered and safe drinking water in thermos bottles in your hotel or lodge rooms, but it is advisable not to drink from the taps. Health Requirements. 1. Only international travellers above one years old coming to Kenya from Yellow Fever Infected countries are required to have valid international vaccination cerificates against Yellow Fever. Globally, Yellow fever endemic zone is within the tropics that is 20 degrees North and 10 degrees South, hence travellers coming from temperate zones are exempted. Yellow fever endemic zones are areas resevoire. Some countires which fall under this category include: Panama, Colombia, Venezuela, Guyana, Surinam, French Guyana, Brazil, Bolivia, Peru, Ecuador, Senegal, Zambia, Guinea Bissau, Liberia, Mali, Niger, Nigeria, Cameroon, Gabon, Angola, Chad, Ethiopia, Somalia, Kenya, Uganda, Tanzania, Zambia, Ghana, Rwanda and Burundi, etc. No other vaccinations requirement is needed in Kenya. However, travellers from non malaria regions like Europe, Australia, North America and Canada take Malaria Prophylactic drugs two weeks before travelling to Kenya and continue for two weeks after leaving the country if they intend to visit coastal and Lake Victoria regions of Kenya, where malaria is endemic. Duty Free. Visitors are restricted to duty free items of 200 cigarettes or 50 cigars and one litre bottle of spirits. Immigration. All visitors must be in possession of a valid passport and visas are needed by every one with the expection of citizens of most commonwealth countires. And certain other countires with which Kenya has reciprocal waiver arrangements. Visitors are not allowed to take up work as residence in Kenya withouth the authority of the Principal Immgration Officer. Visa Requirements. The Immgration Department advises that citizens of all Commonwealth countries, including the Republic of Ireland, do not require visas to come to Kenya. Other countries not requiring visas are those who have conculded abolition agreement with Kenya, such as Denmark, Finland, Spain, Turkey, Uruguay, Ethiopia, San Marino, Norway and Eritrea. Other who do not require visas for not periods exceeding 30 Days are citizens from UK, France, Luxembourg, Germany, Italy, Australia, Japan, USA and Canada. Customs. Any reasonable volume of personal effects can be imported togather with cameras and any amount of film. Electricity. Voltage in Kenya is 220 - 240 AC. An adaptor will benecessary for appliances which operate on 110 - 12 AC. Currency. Kenyan currency is based on the decimal system. The unit of currency is the Shilling divided into 100 Cents. It is illegal to enter or leave Kenya with any Kenyan currency and visitors must exchange any Kenyan Currency at the banks. Visitors are advised to avoid street dealers and to transact all currency dealings through official dealers. Banking. Nairobi, Mombasa and most other pincipal centres in Kenya have Forex Bureaux banks and banks with Bureau de Change. Banking hours are from 09:00hrs to 14:00hrs. Monday to Friday, though some open between 09:00hrs and 11:00hrs on the first Saturdays of each month. Banks at Jomo Kenyatta and Moi International Airports operate a 24 hour service. Credit Cards. American Express, Visa and other well known cards are widely accepted throughtout Kenya. Photography. Film is available at most game lodges, even in remote areas, but stocks are usually smal and of the common sizes and brands. Nairobi and Mombasa have supplies of the most normal types of film. Visitors are advised that it is an offence to photograph Kenya's Head of State, Military Installations, Policemen in Uniforms, etc. As a general rule elsewhere, visitors are strongly advised to seek permission before taking anyone's photogaph, especially the Samburu, Turkana and Masai peoples. Airport Tax. The international Airport Departure tax ($40). For local travellers there is Airport Departure tax of Kenya Shillings 200/=. Security. In keeping with many tourist centres worldwide, visitors are advised not to leave any valuables in their hotel room when they go out, but to make use of the safe deposits boxes which are available at most hotels and lodges (some rooms are equipped with a safe) Prices. The agents liability for its own negligence shall be limited to the tour price and the agent shall not in any event be liable for consequential indirect losses. In the unlikely event that a tour member has a complaint whilst on a tour, the complaint must be brought to the attention of the local replresentative which will be satisfactorily resolved. Rates. Rates include all expenses for the best available accommodation and table d'hote meals, vehicles and driver for the intended itinerary, range guides where necessary, entrance fees for National Parks, Game reserves. All expenses of a personal nature such as visas, beverages, laundry, airport tax, tips etc, are excluded. Single rooms or rooms with private bath cannot be guaranteed, especially within the parks. All price quoted are based on tariffs and exchange rates applicable at the time of printing and are subjected to alteration withouth notice. Payment. A deposit of 25% IS REQUIRED on booking of any travel arrangements, the balance is to be paid 15 days before commencement of the tour. payment is in full is requires where bookings are made less than 15 days before the tour begins. the deposit may be forteited in case of cancellations and amendments. Transportation & Driver / Guides. Transportation will be in minibuses, cars or four wheel drive vehicle will be provided according to the route and number of participants. The right is reserved to employ the service of sub - contractor. Trained English speaking African driver / guides are provided unless any passenger specially requests a professional courier, in which case an extra charge will be levied. Alterations to Tours. The company reserves the right to alter arrangements on the route or to cancel the operation of a scheduled tour should conditions necessitate. It also reserves the right to decline to accept or retain any person as a member of any tour at any time, in which event an equitable amount will be refunded. Liability. The company and its agents act only as agents of the passengers in all matters relating to tours. The company's liability to passengers is dictated by the appropriate law of the country in which the tour takes place. However, the company accepts no responsibility for any person's illness, injust, delays, loss or damages from any cause whatsoever.
